Thursday, July 15, 2010 Pedaling Parsons

Today it wasn't the 75 miles but the 90 degrees, high humidity that did me in.

Special thanks to Jim Martinelli for taking most of the pictures for the blog this year because I forgot to bring the cord to hook my camera up to the computer.

We celebrated Tommy Lundin's 12th birthday tonight after demolishing 6 very large
New York Pizzas. Tommy has been riding with us since he was nine.
That's it for now.
Happy Trails In Christ,
Don

Wednesday, July 14, 2010 Pedalin g Parsons

We left Newark and several bats in the church (actual bats) and headed for Port Byron. Stayed dry all day.

Dave got the second flat of the day. Jeff had one during breakfast at the church. That takes talent.

Harly, age 83, came to our morning break to welcome us to his town.

Ken really loves cycling. You can just see the joy in his face.

Our helpful support team is always there helping us stay on the rout.

Duct tape adventures part 3
Today we had two showers but only one shower curtain.
No problem. We have duct tape and trash bags. MacGyver eat your heart out.
Ken also used duct tape to "fix" my seat. It wasn't until the end of the ride I realized he, with some help from Tommy and others, placed a pebble under the tape. I thought that seat was less comfortable than usual.

We have a program tonight at Spring Lake UMC. Dinner is lasagna, hamburgers, hot dogs, and more.
I'm going to go eat now.
Happy Trails In Christ,
Don

Tuesday, July 13, 2010 Pedaling Parsons

Today on rout to Newark we continue the Pedaling Parsons Duct adventures part two. Yesterday it didn't work when we tried to fix Denise's arm with duct tape. She still has a fractured humorous, but is doing well with it. Today Team Lundin used it to fix the tandem. It worked really well.

Are we having fun yet? Today most of us really got nailed at one point or another in storms that moved through. Looks like Fred is having fun no matter what.
We got to Newark feeling like drowned rats and found out we all had to share one shower-ALL 29 of us! But the hot water held out and the dinner was great. We all got to enjoy a free concert in the park after dinner.
Be sure and tune in tomorrow to to see what we will try to fix with duct tape in part 3.
Happy Trails In Christ,
Don

Monday July 12, 2010 Pedaling Parsons

Today we started from Niagara Falls First UMC and rode about nine miles to the falls. Jim George got the first flat. He also got the second flat because the tube got pinched.

After morning break Denise Bardash went down on some tracks. We patched her up with duct tape but the x-ray showed a fractured humorous. It really is not funny. She still wants to ride on the tandem with John Lundin while Tommy Lundin is doing his second full solo leg on the tour tomorrow.

Tonight we are staying at
Albion First UMC. They are having VBS. We were their closing program because they are donating all the money they raise to our mission project.

It's now 8:50 PM and I turn into a pumpkin at 9:00 PM...A snoring one. So happy trails in Christ everyone. Please keep us in your prayers.
